Xander 10 months!!

by Mindi Stavish on December 21, 2009

Wow, it’s hard to believe that Xander is already 10 months. It seems like he was just 6 months old and learning how to sit up. This month we have seen a lot of changes in our precious little boy! He has learned how to pull to stand, crawl all over the house, use his index finger to point to everything, click his tongue, imitate raspberry sounds, growling sounds, blows air out of his lips and use his “louder” voice. He turns when his name is called, is making many different sounds including reduplicated babbling, protests by whining when his favorite toys are taken away and enjoys music and peek-a-boo. As far as eating, he has started tolerating more solid foods- mashed or soft, holding his own bottle, and drinking more proficiently from a sippy cup and open cup. Mommy has also started teaching him how to use a straw with some success. Xander LOVES to sit in the grocery cart when we go to the commissary or Target. He also loves being outside, sitting at the kitchen table in his booster chair and playing with Emma. His favorite toys this month include a beach ball, remote controls, mommy or daddy’s cell phone, his Elmo, anything that make his gums feel good, any board book, and his rubber blocks. This past month has been special because Xander spent time with both grandmothers, his grandpa Stavish, and his great grandmother and grandfather Stavish. Unfortunately this month Xander also got his first ear infection that was quickly followed by a double ear infection. He slept through the night for about a week and then his ear infections impacted that, so he is back to waking up during the night. At his doctor’s appointment for his ears he weighed 19 pounds and 10 oz. We love our boy more and more as the weeks go by. His laughter, smile, bright blue eyes, and cheerful mood is contagious and worth waking up for each and every morning (no matter what time it may be!).

Xander finally fits the leg warmers I knit for him when we were in the
hospital during his birth and my recovery
