Last Saturday we enjoyed celebrating Noah’s first birthday with close friends and family. The weather was perfect and everything came together easily. I will post the party decorations and food later this week. Much of the party was inspired by Pinterest (shocker right). Owls have become pretty popular right now, so there was no shortage of ideas. After going through over 1,500 + photos from three different cameras (wow, who knew you could take over 500 photos of the small one eating his cake!), here are some favorites from the day. It was no easy task narrowing them down. Hang on this could quite possibly be the post with the most photos ever!
Waiting for the guests to arrive after a nap and lunch

As guests arrived the kids had time to run around in the basement. We had quite a mixed age range.
Fairly new babies
New one-year olds
The only 2 year old
and four wild three-year old boys
I love watching our friend’s kids grow between birthday celebrations.
There was plenty of grand-parent love
and rare photo ops with close friends and slightly cooperative children.
We then wrangled up the kids for a group photo in front of Noah’s birthday photo collage owl tree. I had no expectations other than cranky, fussy kids that had no desire to sit for a picture and that is what I got. I absolutely love how these pictures play out.

The kids were then given an owl egg hunting basket and led outside to search for eggs.
The adults directed…
photographed…
and enjoyed the moment.
After the last egg was collected the kids enjoyed playing in the yard. I loved how we took our time just taking in the afternoon sunshine.
There was time for young friendship…
and old
Time for grammy horse rides
looking sharp
tasting nature
and admiring the balloons.
Then there was a little boy with balloons.
and applesauce spice cake with cream cheese frosting.

He dug it!
and brought new meaning to the phrase “smash cake”
Big brother thought he would be clever and taste the fondant owl. After taking a big bite he returned the owl to mommy claiming “I don’t like it, mommy.”.
As friends gathered around my mommy heart melted with pure joy.
There was mommy and daddy loves.
Attempted family love.
And lots of mommy love.
Pure happiness…oh wait, that may be the sugar working it’s magic.
Then major disappointment when the cake was removed.
The party winded down with presents for the birthday boy.
Oh so many toys and adorable little outfits.
When all the guests left there was one mashed up cake…
which caused this…
Until this..
What a perfect day for our precious little one-year-old!
