Wordless (ish) Wednesday: About the Weekend I Ditched My Camera

by Mindi Stavish on April 24, 2012

RIP Picnick, you are already missed greatly! I have been searching and searching for an online photo editor that lives up to your power. I’ve come up short. No more easy collages. No more fun text. No more lovely filter effects Just no more. *sob* Anyone else feeling the burn?? What are you all using for photo collages now? I have Photoshop Elements 9 and have attempted to figure it. The collage feature is annoying to say the least. I don’t have the money for Photoshop at this time but it is on my list of things to buy. I need something in the short-term. A quick fix. I attempted to bring back Photobucket collages, but they are so lame. Sorry for the massive photo dump with random sizes.

Last weekend was a lazy, rainy, stay-at-home kind of a weekend. I was so lazy that I didn’t pick up my DSLR. Strange I know. Anyone that follows me on Instagram knows that I did take a ton of photos with my IPhone though….oh, IPhone camera how you suck. More on that later.

Friday night I loaded the boys into the car and we went to the military family pre-sale for the Just Between Friend’s consignment sale at the Dulles Sportsplex. The boys were nothing but great the entire night (thank you Chik-Fil-A playground) and I scored some great deals. Xander had fun finding new toys to lug around. They ranged from a large lego monster truck, to a way too small for him buzz light year push car. Eventually he settled on a cheap Playmobil set and a few books. Total spent = $69.00!! After editing this post I realized I spelled socks with an “sh”, oops!

Saturday I got a ton of spring “cleaning” accomplished. This cleaning involved no scrubbing, just sorting, folding, tossing, and hair pulling. I have been horrible at putting outgrown clothes into plastic bins lately. Needless to say I had a year of outgrown clothes to organize. Noah’s room looked like a war zone hit it. I was too tired and lazy to take after pictures, but 8 bins later I no longer feel like I should be on the show Hoarders. Or maybe I should, that is a TON of clothes. Not to mention, who really needs 6 pairs of winter boots (varying in toddler sizes) in a state that gets next to no snow?! I might add that all of the boots have been handed down to us.

My next project was the piles and piles of books that have been stacking up in Xander’s room, since his book-case was about to throw up with books. Now both boys have age appropriate books in their room. Our book collection is from many, many years of hunting at yard sales, consignment sales and book stores. I love children’s books!I’m too cheap to buy a new book case so I cleared out the one in the kitchen, moved my cookbooks into a cupboard, and reused the kitchen one in Noah’s room. I LOVE how organized my cookbooks are now. When I open the cupboard I feel like I’m browsing the cooking section at Barnes and Noble. While I was organizing the boys were having lots of fun causing trouble.                                                      Then this happened.
Sunday was spent relaxing, meal planning, running errands and watching the Capitals choke in overtime (boo to a Game 7). After spending all day at home Saturday the boys were pretty crazy and needed to get out.

On our way to the grocery store we spotted a mama duck and ducklings crossing the road. I was swearing at myself for not having my camera with me. They were sooooooo freaking adorable. Words can not describe. After they crossed the road they were trying to jump up the curb but couldn’t make it. I thought about helping them out but every time I got close the mama duck squawked. Of course I did manage to get close enough to get a few less than wonderful pictures with my IPhone. Lesson learned…never leave home without my camera in case I spy some cute little ducklings crossing the road in the rain.

Now how is that for a pretty random Wordless Wednesday filled with craptastic quality photos?

Linking up for another great Wordless (ish) Wednesday with some fantastic blogs! Check them out.

You’ve been a busy girl! Love all your finds, and the organization is inspiring. :) Those baby ducks are adorable! Hard to imagine how we managed without cell phone cameras when we’d forget our actual camera! :)

I miss Picnik too! It was so awesome. You should try PicMonkey. I really like it so far. They don’t have collages yet, but their editing tools are great, and their site says that collages and more are coming soon, so hopefully they’ll be as awesome as Picnik’s were. Check them out at http://www.picmonkey.com
