Butterfly Happiness

by Mindi Stavish on May 11, 2012

Yesterday Xander and I spent the day at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.  The butterfly habitat is an amazing experience that I highly recommend!  Did you know the lifespan of a butterfly is only 14 days? The easiest way to recreate a butterfly habitat is by placing mushy, rotten fruit in your garden. Soon you will have butterflies visiting! Butterflies are near-sighted but can see ultraviolet colors that are invisible to the human eye.Butterflies are cold blooded, so they will not fly if the temperature is below 50 degrees. “The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.”
- Rabindranath Tagore“Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases where it goes” “Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”- Nathaniel Hawthorne
This one found it’s happiness on the top of my head. There are an estimated 24,000 different types of these beatiful insects. Happiness does not land gently on my shoulder like a butterfly. She pounces on my lap, demanding that I scratch behind her ears. -UnknownThis is my true happiness, scratching on my ears…Now fly away and find your happiness my friend.

I just saw your link-up on Chasing Joy’s flashback friday post. These are some really lovely photos. You really captured their fragility and subtle coloring so well.
