First Beach Trip of Summer 2012

by Mindi Stavish on May 23, 2012

Growing up in Maine, I have always loved the seacoast. Nothing can compare to the feel of sand between my toes and the sound of the ocean waves crashing against rocks. When we moved to Oklahoma almost nine years ago, it was hard to adjust to hot, dry summers with nothing but man-made red clay lakes (Gross, right? Who wants to swim in that ick!?). When we moved to the DC area I was happy to be closer to bodies of water. Sure the ocean is a three hour drive, but the bay is nice.

Last week Heather and I loaded up our cars with shovels, sand buckets, a cooler full of food, sunscreen and the kids . We traveled an hour south to Southern Maryland’s little place of heaven North Beach. The beach is nestled in the heart of the town Chesapeake Beach. North Beach is yet just another reason why I’m falling in love with living in Southern Maryland. Today was a day for….

Love the photos! I had a great day. As I sit here & watch my skin fall of (literally). It was so worth it! I hope we get back down there again when it’s a bit warmer too!!

Thanks Amanda! It means a ton coming from you!!! :) I love taking photos. It really brings me a lot of happiness now that I’m shooting out of the auto mode. Hooray for a good photography class and lots of practice.
