I’ll be leaving for BlogHer12 in less than a week! I’m feeling a tiny bit more prepared after reading post after post about BlogHer11. I would like to introduce to you my BlogHer12 sponsor, Copy-Kids. Back in June, I fell in love with the Copy Kids campaign for helping children become adventurous and excited to eat fruits and vegetables, while reviewing the Copy Kids DVD.
Copy-Kids media company released their first video, Copy-Kids Eat Their Fruits and Vegetables, in January 2012. The DVD is geared for children aged 6 months to 5 years and encourages positive eating habits in young children, by watching and copying other kids. The video consists of 12 chapters, each one focusing on a different fruit or vegetable, including bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, avocado, tomatoes, broccoli, oranges, bananas, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. The DVD also includes an on-camera discussion about healthy eating with renowned pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon, plus a section of delightful outtakes.
The video is filmed with no narration, so it’s just a child at a table eating a fruit or vegetable and talking. Each child is even introduced by another child, which is pretty adorable! The preschool children in the video have some pretty cute comments and reactions to the food on their plate. Just see for yourself!
See, cute right?
So I know you asking, does it really work? I was excited to try it out to see. The first time I turned it on Xander was glued to the kids on the screen. He was calling them by name and laughing at their mannerisms. Then when he requested the foods the children were eating, I about fell out of my chair. Of course it was on a Sunday morning before grocery shopping, so we had very limited fresh veggies in the house. Mommy fail! He was a sad little boy requesting to eat red peppers and I couldn’t deliver the goods.
The next time we sat down to watch Copy-Kids Eat Their Fruits and Vegetables, I was armed with a full fridge of fresh produce. I let Xander choose two vegetables he wanted to eat with his friends. He excitedly chose the raw broccoli and red peppers. We chopped them up and he helped me put them on his plate. As he watched the DVD, I watched him take his first bite of raw broccoli! Very exciting!
If your a regular reader you know that I’m pretty passionate about any product or company that promotes healthy eating, especially in children. Copy-Kids has received several children’s excellence awards, including the prestigious MACT Excellence Award. It has also been approved by the USDA and added to their Education and Training Materials Database for pre-school nutrition . What a great program, we struggle with eating fruits and veggies too! It’s very interesting that the kids like to copy the ones on the DVD!

How cool that you have such a great sponsor for Blogher! I wish I was going to be there this year. My husband has his reunion the same weekend, so that trumped my attendance unfortunately. Sharon will be there though, so be sure to say hi to her! Have a fantastic time!
