Flags Pond State Park

by Mindi Stavish on September 21, 2012

Labor day weekend I was just itching to hit the beach one more time this summer. Sadly we just weren’t able to afford a weekend beach trip to Virginia Beach like I was hoping. Instead we explored a beach in our own backyard in Southern Maryland. Just 45 minutes from our house is a secret gem, Flags Pond State Park. Beach sand, tidal ponds, a fishing pier, and a nearly empty beach awaited these two little boys. They were pleased.

The big one went to work on his sand castle as soon as his feet hit the sand

The little one took his time frolicking in the water

and digging in the wet sand

Stolen moments between mommy and son

Stalking little fish with daddy

Little fish in a big world

There is nothing like digging your toes in the sand

Sitting upon driftwood, calm and serene

Or chucking it high above

Reflection

Amazment

My happy place

What will you miss most about the summer? Did you spend time at the beach?
