Guys, October is more than halfway over! Do you know what that means? November and the insanity of the holiday season is knocking on our door. My husband has already started planning our decorating strategy for after Thanksgiving. I have started daydreaming about Photo Christmas Cards. Here are the questions running through my head…
Should we stage a photo somewhere with a DC landscape as our background? Or take a photo on the steps of our house?
Should I just use a family photo from our summer vacation? Do people like to see photos from family trips on Christmas cards?
Should I do one photo or include several photos throughout the year, like our card last year?
Most importantly, if we go with an updated family photo what should we all wear?
I thought it would be fun to do a little daydreaming about what the Stavish family would wear if we were to do a holiday photo shoot at a DC monument. I am always so impressed by Amanda’s Chic on the Street fashion posts over at Parenting By Dummies. She inspired me to try to put together some outfits for our family photos. What do you think?
Would these work? Or should I just scrap the idea of a holiday family photo, be lazy and use photos of us throughout 2012? There are just too many decisions to make and this is why I start thinking about holiday cards in October. How about you? When shopping around for holiday photo cards Shutterfly has a huge selection. I usually order 75 cards and wish I had ordered more. But I don’t need a hundred so I just eliminate a couple people each year – eeeep! I love the mom fashion! Guys stuff is cute too – but guys clothes. Blah. For your card…I think your front steps is a cute idea. Or a monument. But I just don’t care for BEACH/summer pictures on a Christmas card. It just seems wrong!

Our Christmas card goes out to about 100 family and friends. And this year will include a baby announcement too!

We usually order from shutterfly, about 30-50 cards, depending on the year and who is in our life.
I love the idea of the front steps, I think thats what we are doing!
p.s I had the chance to do this giveaway, but didn’t want to risk not posting with being busy with the girls. Glad I have the chance to win it though

Yeah I think we will do either the front steps or somewhere in DC. Maybe at the Arboretum.
Love that place!

I feel like our list has grown this year too! Just from meeting a lot of my blogging friends at BlogHer too!
I usually send out about 75 cards because we have ridiculously large families on both sides.
Loving the pleated skirt/boots idea. Very sassy for a Christmas card!

Send out happy holiday, about 25, and I would use the rest towards a book
I send out about 20 – mostly to family around the country.

Not crazy at all. I think that’s about average. Sadly we only get about 20-25 back. Call me greedy but I just love getting cards and am bummed when we don’t get as near as I think we will.

Happy to hear you’re enjoying my fashion posts! I am always so uncertain about them. I guess that’s the budding in my budding fashionista:). We usually order 50-75 family/friend cards and then I order another 50 for my business. And, I go wherever I wind up with a giftcode to get em!

Keep at them. I have learned so much!!! I’m in need of a new fall wardrobe but am holding off since my body shape will be changing soon.
That’s a lot of cards for sure! I hear ya about the giftcode. One of the perks to being a blogger!
I send out 50, but could do more but hate spending the extra money for those we aren’t super close with
We send out about 125 Christmas cards every year. I would love to win this giveaway to help with the cost. I love Shutterfly.
I have a feeling we will be sending out close to 100 this year…the most ever. Good luck!
we send so many cards – it’s crazy… i really should cut down the list, but it’s so hard! last year we sent over 200!
