Summer Camp Memories + Kiddo Tag Label Giveaway

by Mindi Stavish on May 7, 2013

When I was in third grade my mom shipped me away to Camp Susan Curtis, which is a sleep away camp. I was an awkward, shy, introvert, who absolutely despised most everything about camp. As a ten year old, two weeks felt like the longest time in my life. Bugs, wildlife, woods, hiking, swim tests, and canoeing were NOT for this girl. I even tried to go home early, but no such luck. My mom did not drive, so my ride home was set up for two weeks from my drop off date. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

My camp memories aren’t all horrible though. I loved the arts and crafts activities, my camp counselors, and working on the behind the scene sets for the play.  By the end of the two weeks, I even made a couple of really great camp friends.  Looking back, I’m glad my mom did not cave to my pleas of picking me up.  Camp was a learning experience and I’m glad I have these memories.  Even though I didn’t ever attend another sleep away camp, I will always remember sitting around the camp fire, making friendship bracelets and going on scavenger hunts.

With summer vacation just around the corner, parents and kids sare starting to think about their own summer camp plans.  Parents of children who suffer from health and food allergies face a big challenge when it comes to keeping their children safe when away from home.  That’s why  Kiddotags.com created medical alert tags.  With these tags you can customize the text and provide the safety guidelines needed to assist your loved one in an emergency and/or simply to remind those around them.  They are the perfect solution for a child attending camp with a food or health allergy.

I absolutely love these tags.  They are waterproof, washable, and brightly colored.  Kiddo Tags carry a wide range of label tags including pacifier, lunchbox, clothing, bottle, and shoe tags.  Check out my previous post for a full review of the Kiddo Tags!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Graco. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.

Last week, the boys and I piled into our car and headed 60 miles Northwest to Seneca State Park to meet up with local bloggers for the Graco Event sponsored by the SITS Girls. The weather was perfect and the park was beautiful. Once all the mom’s arrived with their babies strapped safely in their Graco FastAction™ Fold Jogger Click Connect™, Katie Heddleston gave a demonstration of the stroller and all of it’s fantastic features.

baby line up of Graco BabyJogger strollers

Stroller Details:

* One step secure attachment that connects with any Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 Infant Car seat. Not only will I be able to use this stroller as a jogging stroller this summer, but I can also strap baby #3 into it with the infant car seat for errands and outings.
* The seat itself reclines in several different positions and is easily adjustable with a 3 and 5 point harness. Noah loves to “buckle” himself into the seat, but is thankfully not able to unbuckle it (just yet!).
* The front wheel locks for quick transition from strolling to jogging.
* The entire stroller folds easily by pulling up on the handle located in the seat. This is one of my favorite features of the stroller, especially being 8 months pregnant.
* Once folded, the stroller locks in place and can be stored upright, thanks to the kick stand feature.

Mom’s Favorite Features:

* The storage basket is extra large, allowing plenty of room for coats, toys, snacks, and a full sized diaper bag.
* A removable parent tray featuring two cup holders, a smart phone cradle and a small storage place for keys and a wallet.
* A removable child tray with 2 cup holders and a snack tray.
* Reflectors for low-light visibility for safe evening and morning use.
* A jogging safety strap that is worn around the jogger’s wrist for full control of the stroller when jogging.

stroller features we love

Noah absolutely loves this stroller, which is quite amazing considering he isn’t a huge fan of being strapped into a stroller at his age. Since I am super pregnant, I haven’t had a chance to jog with it. I have pushed it through rocks and dirt and it glides easily on all surfaces. It is now our go to stroller for Tee ball games, since it’s easy to push through the dirt and uneven surfaces to get to the field. Additionally, the basket is large enough for all of Xander’s Tball equipment.

Graco FastAction BabyJogger

If your in the market for a new jogging stroller or are just a stroller junkie like me be sure to check out the FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect through Graco.

Graco’s NEW jogger is the ultimate crossover stroller, combining all the comfort and convenience features of a traditional stroller (FastAction Fold and Click Connect Technology) with performance and maneuverability of an all-terrain jogger.

As an added bonus, Graco’s innovative one-second, one-hand FastAction™ fold automatically locks & is self-standing.

Peach Pie Pregnancy Craving

April 18, 2013 Recipes

When my husband and I were planning our menu for Easter dinner I suddenly had a huge craving for peach pie. This may not seem like a bizzare craving, but considering I rarely eat peach pie it was. Since peaches aren’t exactly in season right now, I found the perfect substitution to the real thing, [...]
