Day Out With Thomas

by Mindi Stavish on May 8, 2013

Last Saturday afternoon, we brought the boys to the Baltimore B & O Train Museum for their annual Day Out with Thomas event. Of course they both had an absolute blast! Since my back has been bothering me quite a bit due to the growing baby, I decided to leave my DSRL at home for once. Shooting with just my IPhone was a new challenge for me. At times, I really wish I had my “good camera”, but am relatively happy with all the photos I ended up getting.

Lilac Beauty at the National Arboretum

by Mindi Stavish on May 1, 2013

Ever since I changed jobs and started five days a week again, I have really missed having one day during the week to hang out with the boys. Weekends are always full of chores, shopping and family events, but there really is nothing like a middle of the week day spent exploring a part of our wonderful city.

I took a day off last week to spend the day with the boys and it was a blast. After the Graco Jogging Stroller event we headed to the National Arboretum to inhale the sweet fragrance of the lilac trees. The Arboretum is one of my favorite places in all of DC. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so most of the time it’s not crowded. Also, you would never know you are in the heart of a hustling and bustling city full of traffic, bad air quality, and politicians.

These two couldn’t wait to go exploring….

Tulip Beauty in Arlington

April 17, 2013 Washington DC Activities

It has been two years since we visited the Carillion Tower while the tulip garden is in bloom. This past Sunday the weather was perfect, so we decided to make the drive to Arlington and enjoy the afternoon strolling among the flowers. The boys had a blast running around the park. I just love the [...]

6 Ballparks, 1 Summer: Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

October 4, 2012 Washington DC Activities

I am behind in posting photos from our last two games in my family’s 6 Ballparks, 1 Summer Challenge.  About a month ago, we attended a Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game just 8 miles from our house. If you remember, the last game we went to prior to this was 100 miles away! It was [...]

Flags Pond State Park

September 21, 2012 Washington DC Activities

Labor day weekend I was just itching to hit the beach one more time this summer. Sadly we just weren’t able to afford a weekend beach trip to Virginia Beach like I was hoping. Instead we explored a beach in our own backyard in Southern Maryland. Just 45 minutes from our house is a secret [...]
