We have had a fantastic October enjoying the foliage, going on nature walks, pumpkin carving, celebrating Halloween at the Air and Scare event and trick or treating. Here are some of the highlights!

Yesterday I shared a fun language lesson with the book There Was An Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. Today I’m excited to have Ang from Juggling Act Mama back to share with you a fun activity based on the book. Welcome!

Hello, I’m Ang and I blog over at Juggling Act Mama and love sharing recipes, DIY projects, and fun activities for the kiddos. I’m married to my high school sweetheart and we both work full time outside the home. We have two children, Ethan, 4-1/2, and Olivia, 19-months. I’m thrilled to be back at Simply Stavish and I hope you’ll come visit me to check out some of my favorite posts, like DIY Coconut Sugar Scrub (with free printable labels!), Dino Egg Dig or enter my latest Giveaway!
Today, I’m excited to be sharing a wonderful Halloween book with all of Mindi’s readers. The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything written by Linda D. Williams and illustrated by Megan Lloyd. This is a wonderfully interactive book, with lots of opportunity for mimicking. Both my kids enjoyed clapping their hands, and Ethan really loved yelling “Boo!”

I found this amazing activity from Toddler Approved. You can download the pieces to color and assemble from her Scribd page (there are 4 pages). The kids and I colored the pieces, then I cut out the pieces for the kids.
Next, I attached small magnets to the back of the pieces. (If I had to do this over again, I would laminate these first so that they last longer… Olivia is not the most gentle little girl, heehee!)
I gave the pieces to the kids, and they had fun moving them around on the magnet board that I made for them earlier in the week. While Ethan put the pieces in order ‘the right way,’ Olivia decided it would be more fun to put them upside down. They played for quite awhile, Ethan pointing out the pumpkin’s nose and eyes, and Olivia mimicking and pointing to her own, or her brothers. I really enjoyed watching them play together.
I hope that you get a chance to check out this fun book, and have fun making your own magnet scarecrow activity. And, I hope to see you over at my blog, too!
