My dearest friend Heather welcomed her second baby girl into the world two weeks ago. I had the pleasure of getting some newborn snuggles in the day she was born. Is there anything more amazing in the world than a brand new baby?
There is nothing like watching the love between a mother and her newborn daughter.

Daddy’s little girl

Perfection in a bundle

Until the storm of hunger crashes

A brand new family member to love

Hopes and dreams for her soaring

100% perfection

Welcome to the world Hailee. You are loved so much already!

Our sweet family cat of 9 years passed away in Adrian’s arms on Friday night. Our hearts are broken. The house feels a bit emptier without the sound of her scratching at her food dish, her purring in my ear at night, and the boys’ giggles as they chase after her. She was a wonderful cat, very gentle and sweet to the boys as newborns. She hated strangers and always bolted when she heard the doorbell. She was well loved and lived a good, long life.
Shortly after our first PCS (Permanent Change of Station, military speak for move) to Oklahoma Adrian got orders to deploy. Having only been married for 4 months, I was pretty sad when he left. The house was very lonely and so I decided to get a cat. I found Emma on the very first day I went to the animal shelter. She was so shockingly pretty. The first few days she was home she hid under the dresser. Eventually she came out for longer and longer periods. She turned out to be great company through the deployment and has been ever since.

Before we had kids she tolerated many various outfits and crazy hats, without much of a fuss.
She even made the front of our Christmas card one year.
She loved sleeping in the sun in skeins of yarn.
She was master of finding all of the sunny spots in our house.
When I became pregnant with Xander she seemed to sense the baby, as she always wanted to lounge on my big tummy. Maybe she just wanted to steal my yarn!
She welcomed both Xander and Noah home from the hospital after they were born, with a bit of hesitation.
The boys adored her.
She was patient and fond of them.

Well, most of the time.
She loved shopping bags, but can you blame her?
I will miss her pretty eyes.
Loving spirit.
And mad climbing skills.
But most of all I will miss her presence.
We will never forget our first family pet.
