1. You are becoming quite the communicator: hi, bye, thank you, eat, nigh night (good night), nana (banana), hi, bye, done, beep, uh oh (ok not a real word but really stinking cute!)
2. You now give kisses on demand, as well as just when you want to give them. I love it when you put your head down on me and give me an unexpected peck on the neck, cheek, chest or lips. It melts my heart every single time.
3. You learned to scoot backwards down the stairs and it angers you when we won’t let you play on them.
4. Your table manners are quite humourous. You must drink from everyone’s cup at the table. If we offer you a straw you throw it on the floor in disgust. Even if we do give you a sip of our drink you aren’t content with just a sip. You want to take the entire glass or stick your hand into it. *insert mom eye roll here* You have started to use a spoon and fork too. It’s quite funny to watch you figure it all out.
5. You love to test gravity over and over again by chucking all your food on the floor even when you are really hungry. Then you get even more mad that it’s on the floor. The only food you will not throw on the floor these days is meat and cookies.
6. You still like to nurse right before bed or when you are very upset or hurt. A few weeks ago you bit mommy very, very hard and I was determined that I would wean you. Like I said, that was a few weeks ago. You still win.
7. You are finally getting better at sleeping through the night. Mommy thanks you for this!
8. You have decided to give walking a try. You took your first two steps on June 22nd. You haven’t done much more since then but you do love to cruise along the furniture and push your toy car.
9. You are crazy, silly and fast. Some mornings if I’m not quick enough to take your clothes off you crawl into the shower with them all on. You also love putting things on your head these days.
10. You lost your first pet, our sweet Emma kitty, on the same evening you took your first steps. We brought her to you to pet her one last time before daddy brought her to the animal hospital. She was very sick but is looking down on you now. She was a wonderful cat and loved you very much. She especially loved to sleep in your crib when you were very small.
It’s been quite a month for our little N. As I was rocking him to sleep the other night I was thinking about how quickly these last 15 months have gone by. I became sad as it really hit me that he is no longer a baby, but a full fledged toddler. I will forever miss those infant days, but also love watching him grow into his personality. Writing this post sure confirms that he is no longer a baby but a certified toddler. Watch out world, here comes the redhead.
