The weather was amazing this weekend, 60 degrees and sunny! Saturday we ended up lounging at home until the hockey game, so I made sure we got outside on Sunday. I know the days of warm weather are coming to an end, as depressing as it is. I’m not a fan of winter. After the Christmas decorations have come down and my birthday is over the long dreary days of winter seem never-ending. Thankfully winter in Maryland is MUCH SHORTER than winter in Maine. In Maine it sometimes snows in April! I’m happy that we have decided to settle down in place where winter has a forseeable end. Speaking of winter I forgot to post pictures of our first snowfall before Halloween. Back in New England a foot of snow fell (seriously, what is wrong with mother nature?), but we just saw snowflakes here. Xander was pretty excited about the snow. When he saw his breath he said “smoke”. Too funny!
Ok, back to this weekend. Xander came downstairs on Friday morning ready for “Oklahoma football”. He is well-trained to know that when it’s the weekend, it’s time for football. Friday really did feel like a Saturday for most of the day though, so I can’t blame him for being confused. Friday morning the boys and I headed to Alexandria for a playdate with my friend Erin and her 2-year-old Gus. It was great catching up with her. She will be welcoming another baby boy into the world in just a few weeks. I am excited to meet baby Finn! After our play date, I met Cheryl at Matchbox in DC for a going away lunch. She is moving to Germany to work at the army hospital there. I will miss her tons. We started at Children’s around the same time and now I’m the only SLP who has been there for over 5 years. Turn around in our department is crazy high!
Saturday we stayed in our PJ’s for part of the day and enjoyed time with the boys.
Now that Noah is more mobile and all into Xander’s toys, we started putting him in the pack and play while we aren’t close by. I’m not a huge fan of plopping him down in there but when I’m cooking or cleaning it’s necessary. Xander likes to try to put toys into his mouth or play a little too rough with him. I see many bruises between these two in the future.
Saturday evening we watched the Caps lose to the Devils in an exciting shoot out. Due to his nap strike Xander fell asleep on the way to the arena. He was super focused and quiet for the entire game. Very unlike him!

Sunday morning was more lounging around in our PJs, menu planning and clipping coupons.
Sunday afternoon we played in the back yard before going grocery shopping. Xander was happy to run and then spent some time looking for leaves.
After all that playing Xander eventually passed out on the couch watching football around 4 pm. Little dude refuses to nap during the weekend but he just can’t stay up all day long. Gradually the sleep monster wins. I tried to put him down to nap this afternoon and he ended up jumping on his bed singing “No nap mommy!”. Some battles just aren’t worth it.
